The invention relates to a device making it possible to indicate, to other drivers, the intensity of braking, that is to say the degree of deceleration of a vehicle. It consists of a deceleration sensor which transmits its data by an electrical signal to a luminous warning device which is illuminated with increasing intensity as the deceleration increases. The sensor is an inert mass device sensitive to the deceleration, held by one or two springs and which, during its motion, makes electrical contact with the circuit of 1, 2, 3 or 4 lamps.
