O/W EMULSION AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To obtain an O/W emulsion in which the reactivity of the contained highly reactive crosslinking agent such as a low-temperature-curing melamine resin is suppressed because the emulsion particles have a double-layer structure and which has such good storage stability that it does not suffer from disadvantages such as gelation during storage. CONSTITUTION:A highly reactive crosslinking agent such as a melamine resin is mixed with at least two water-soluble resins having different contents of hydrophilic groups, and the mixture is introduced into an aqueous phase and emulsified in it to obtain an O/W emulsion in which the dispersed phase comprises particles each of which is formed in such a manner that the water-soluble resin layer of a lower content of hydrophilic groups is formed around a core composed of the above highly reactive crosslinking agent and a water-soluble resin layer of a higher content of hydrophilic groups is formed around the particle.
