Nutritional mineral supplements comprising calcium citrate malate, salts of manganese, copper and zinc and a member or members selected from the group of vitamin D or its metabolites or precursors and drug therapies consisting of calcitonin, editronate, diphosphonates and amino-diphosphonates are disclosed. Estrogen can also be used with these supplements. These supplements, which provide at least 25 % RDA of the calcium, trace minerals and vitamins, are used in addition to the normal diet. These supplements are useful for increasing bone growth and for treating age-related bone loss in humans and animals. The supplements may be in the form of solid tablets, liquid unit dosage forms, or in a beverage. |
