The housing for a cathode ray tube, in which a circuit panel is placed, comprises a front cover (10) having a peripheral surround (101) around an aperture for accommodating a visual display unit, and a rear cover linked by a side wall to the peripheral surround (101). The housing also includes two parallel elongate plates (21), each of which fits into a socket part (15) of the peripheral surround (101), and carries an auxiliary inclined plate (24) which fits into a second socket part (15') of the peripheral surround (101), the two elongate plates (21) being linked by a transverse plate (23). The circuit panel is inserted into a longitudinal groove (25) of the elongate plates (21). Application to housings for a cathode ray tube, for easy removal of the circuit panel. <IMAGE>
