<p>PURPOSE:To prevent toner splashing and fogging and to enhance transfer rate by externally adding specified hydrophobic inorganic particulates to coloring particles at least consisting of colorant and binding resin. CONSTITUTION:The hydrophobic inorganic particulates whose BET specific surface area is 100-400m<2>/g, whose apparent density is 100-300g/liter, and which satisfies B>=-1.2A+355 when it is assumed that the BET specific surface area is A and the apparent density is B are externally added to the coloring particles consisting of the colorant and the binding resin, at least. In such a case, developer 3 is carried on a developer carrier 2 by magnetic force and regulated by a layer thickness regulating member 4 so as to get specified thickness, then it is carried to a developing area 6. The thickness of the developer layer 7 on the carrier 2 is regulated by the member 4 so that the developer layer 7 does not directly rub a latent image carrier 1 in the area 6. The minimum gap Dsd of the developing area 6 is set to be larger than the thickness of the developer layer carried to the developing area 6.</p> |
