PURPOSE:To offer a rust preventing method for a rare earth alloy such as a 72 Nd-Fe-B-based permanent magnet, particularly the rust preventing method in the case of preservation, production and use of the rare earth alloy and to provide the rare earth alloy having rust preventing function. CONSTITUTION:The rare earth alloy 11 is dipped into a water-based ion conductive medium 41, and a potential which generates a diffusion limiting current when dissolved oxygen in the medium 41 is reduced with cathode electrode of the rare earth alloy 11 and which is higher than a potential generating hydrogen on the surface of the rare earth alloy 11 in the medium 41 is impressed to the rare earth alloy 11. |
