PURPOSE:To obtain a fluid coupling whose transmission torque can be adjusted steplessly. CONSTITUTION:There is provided a liquid, amount adjusting device composed of a cylinder 24 communicating with a barrel 14 (a coupling housing) and a piston 27 installed on the cylinder 25. A rate of viscous fluid inside the barrel 14 is changed by displacing the piston 27, and then a viscous shearing resistance is varied. Thus, a transmission torque and a rotational speed of a fluid coupling output shaft can be continuously varied according to the using condition. Spacers 19 and 23 are arranged respectively between driving discs 18 and 18, and between driven discs 21 and 21, and the distance between the discs is set. An initial viscous shearing resistance is varied by varying the distance between the discs. |
