PURPOSE:To control bacteria soft rot of potato safely and simply without causing phytotoxicity by scattering a viable bacterium belonging to Erwinia cartovora on stems and leaves of potato, immersing tuber of potato in a suspension containing the bacterium or sprinkling thereof. CONSTITUTION:Tuber of potato is immersed in a suspension containing a bacterium of Erwinia cartovora such as CHE10M2 (FERM P-10,998) or CGE234M403 (FERM P-11,792) deficient in pathogenicity or the suspension is scattered on stems or leaves of potato or soil to control bacteria soft rot of potato. Bacteria soft rot being induced to potatoes, especially to potato, which has been difficult to suppress, can be controlled by a simple method. Since a viable bacterium is used as a biological control method, this control is safe and free from phytotoxicity. |
