PURPOSE:To provide a focus detector by which a luminous flux is effectively fetched in a line sensor even when the position and the size of the exit pupil of a photographing lens are changed and the focusing state of the photographing lens is detected corresponding to every kind of photographing lens. CONSTITUTION:The focus detector is provided with a pair of separator lenses 22 and 23 which reforms an image formed on an intended focal surface by the photographing lens as a pair of images, a pair of line sensors 211 and 25 which receives the images formed by the separator lenses, and a prism 26 which is attachably/detachably provided in accordance with the change of the exit pupil of the photographing lens in an optical path between the lenses 22 and 23 and the photographing lens and which deflects the optical path. |
