Sheets or strips (1) having perforated upper edges are hung from substantially straight and horizontal pegs, notched (4) and labelled (7), wherein one of the notches (5) is hidden by a tab (15) and fitted therewith into a groove (5r) ending at a box (24) of a vernier (23N or 23AN) in which a reference element specific for each document is printed, and wherein the colour of the tab (15) matches an indicium inscribed above (30) the boxes (24) for completing the information provided by said boxes. A vernier (23N) comprising cut-outs (25) is positioned on the pegs from which the documents hang and its boxes (24) display printed numbers from 00 to 99 for filing in numerical order. A different vernier (23AN) has blank boxes allowing a user to write in inscriptions for alphanumerical filing. The device may be used for vertical storage of large documents.
