PURPOSE: To provide a sealing device which reduces the force necessary for expanding a compression sleeve and a gasket to their final fixing positions. CONSTITUTION: A device for expanding a cannular gasket 16 radially comprises a slide sleeve 24 and a compression sleeve 74. The slide sleeve 24 is formed by a film of relatively rigid materials such as nylon, hypalon or polyester. The slide sleeve 24 is brought to abut the inner surface of the portion to be expanded of the cannular gasket 16. The compression sleeve 74 is arranged such that it directly abuts the slide sleeve 24, so that the slide sleeve 24 acts as the slide plate of the compression sleeve 74 when the slide sleeve 24 and the compression sleeve 74 are expanded toward the inner surface of the cannular gasket 16. The slide sleeve 24 may be bonded to or formed integrally with the inner side of the cannular gasket 16. The compression sleeve 74 can be locked at any one of the expanded positions. |
