The HV generator uses a HV transformer, a DC stage and a HV terminal enclosed by an oil-filled housing (1,2) formed as a vat. A cover (2) fits over the latter. The vat comprises a moulding with integral fixing points (6) for the different components. The cover is provided as a flat plate, the vat tapering inwards from the top so that its outer dimensions at halfway down the vat are smaller than the inner dimensions of the top opening (3) fitted with the cover. Pref. the vat tapers inwards towards its base at an angle of 15 deg. to the vertical. ADVANTAGE - Low-cost mfr.
