The appts. includes short circuit ring sensor (2) with a movable ring on a core and a measurement coil and a reference sensor (4) with a fixed ring. The two sensors are mounted on in a unit with the same ambient conditions. An evaluation unit determines the ratio of the measurement and reference coil inductances. A further short circuit ring sensor (3) in the unit and connected to the evaluation unit has a ring (12) movable independently of that in the first sensor. The evaluation unit also measures the ratio of the inductances of the coils in the first and additional sensors. USE/ADVANTAGE - Allows compact mounting in vehicle or aircraft.
