A camera which is fitted with a lens (1) has a body with depth less than 26 mm measured in the direction of the optical axis of the lens. The lens is mounted in a supporting structure (7) which can be retracted within the body of the camera or extended to the camera operating position. When the lens supporting structure is retracted it lies within the camera body so that the overall depth is within 26 mm. The camera uses standard 35 mm film.
