The current source uses two conventional current mirrors (MN1,MN2,MN3; MN1,MP2) of opposite type coupled behind one another. The output transistors (MN3,MP2) are controlled in alternation via transistor switches (MN4,MP3,MP4,MN5), to obtain a positive or negative reference current at the circuit output (8A). Pref. the input transistor (MN1,MP1) of the current mirrors are connected as diodes. The first current reflector (MN1,MN2,MN3) pref. includes a transistor (MN2) with its output circuit in series with the output circuit of the input transistor (MP1) of the second current reflector.
