<p>This invention pertains to a method and apparatus for therapeutically treating insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus and other immunological disorders and disease states which are characterized by the presence of immunologically abnormal leukocytes in the body of the afflicted subject. The method involves the therapeutic administration of postthymic T lymphocytes capable of secreting soluble factors that can ameliorate disease state associated with diabetes or other autoimmune disease. Methods of screening and/or detecting insulin-dependent diabetes are also described.</p> |
