METHOD AND DEVICE FOR MAKING CASTINGS IN TRAVELLING ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD

The proposed method consists in accumulating a portion of metal corresponding to the volume of the casting and feeding that portion simultaneously with subjecting it to the travelling electromagnetic field. The device comprises a casting mould consisting of two half-moulds one (1) of which is made of a soft magnetic material and the other (2) of a non-magnetic material, and a travelling magnetic field generator (3). The device further comprises a pouring gate (4) connected through a pouring system (5) to the working cavity (6) of the casting mould. One of the half-moulds at a section of the pouring system (5) is provided with a closing unit with a movable element (9) closing the pouring system (5). The movable element (9) moves in a direction perpendicular to the surface of the travelling electromagnetic field generator (3) facing the half-mould (2).
