NON-CONSTRAINED TOTAL JOINT SYSTEM

A non-constrained total joint prosthetic replacement device (10) for the metatarso-phalangeal joint. A first component (12) comprises a convex-bearing surface (24) and a rearwardly projecting stem (22) configured to be received in the resected metatarsal bony shaft (16) and a second component (14) includes a concave-bearing surface (40) and a stem (36) configured to be received within the resected phalangeal bony shaft (18). A non-bearing intermediate land (26) offsets the convex-bearing surface (24) of the first component (12) from the stem (22), allowing a full range of anatomical motion notwithstanding the presence of bony growth.
