<p>Automatic welding penetration-related control is achieved by combining automatic control of front-side doming welding current correction with contol of welding arc voltage welding head height adjustment. A measurement of the welding arc voltage is input into an electronic unit (20, 22) which determines the motion to be imparted to the welding head so that said voltage remains constant. Likewise, the welding head (1) has devices (15, 16) for measuring its height. This value is input into into an electronic unit (23, 25) which determines the welding current to be applied to the machine. The invention may be used in a variety of high-technology fields which require automatic welding, e.g. aeronautics and nuclear energy.</p> |
