The radio has an analyser for alternative transmitter frequencies transmitted in a radio data system (RDS). This includes a memory (9) for the PI codes transmitted in group OA of the RDS signals and alternative frequencies, and a data code decoder (20). A second memory (13) has cells (14) for the PI codes of the other memory (9) and cells (15) for the alternative frequencies associated with the PI codes. The second memory (13) is connected to an RDS decoder (7) via a decoder (11) for signals of group 14A in the RDS signal. A signal memory (17) is connected to the RDS decoder (7) via a decoder (12) for group 14B.. After receiving a PI code in group 14B a selector switch is controlled corresponding to a PI code in the signal memory (17) and a switch over (18) is actuated to connect the associated frequency to a processor (3). During reception of an announcement code the decoders (11, 12) are inhibited. ADVANTAGE - Provides reliable availability of other program tracks via latest data which are allocated to transmitter chains in use.
