<p>Bayonet lugs (46, 48) and bayonet slots are provided on a fuel injector (12) and a fuel rail (14) respectively to provide for the injector (12) to be installed in a transverse through-hole (16) in the fuel rail (14) by circumferentially registering the lugs (46, 48) with the slots, inserting the injector (12) into the through-hole (16) to a predetermined depth established by an abutment stop which is sufficient to allow the lugs (46, 48) to pass through the slots, and then twisting the injector (12) about its own axis to remove the lugs (46, 48) from their insertion registry with the slots and cause the injector (12) to become axially captured and correctly indexed in the through-hole (16).</p> |
