Compounds of the formula (I) in which R<1> denotes H or (in each case substituted) alkyl, alkenyl, alkinyl, alkylsulphonyl, phenylsulphonyl, alkoxy or alkylsulphonyl, R<2> denotes (substituted) alkyl, (substituted) phenyl or dialkylamino or R<1> and R<2> together denote a (substituted) C3-C4-alkylene chain, R<3> denotes H, alkyl, haloalkyl, hal, NO2, CN, alkoxy, haloalkoxy, alkylthio, alkoxyalkyl, alkoxycarbonyl, mono- or dialkylamino, alkylsulphonyl, alkylsulphinyl, (substituted) amidosulphonyl or (substituted) carbonamide, R<4> denotes H or CH3, n denotes 0 or 1, m denotes 1 or 2, A denotes 4,6-disubstituted pyrimidinyl (see Claim 1) and M denotes a mono- or divalent cation (see Claim 1), are suitable as herbicides and plant growth regulators. They are prepared, for example, from the corresponding sulphonylurea by reaction with an alcoholate, carbonate or amine.
