A mill for pulverising coal has a rotor which is mounted on a shaft (2) and rotates inside a housing which has an inlet (13) and an outlet (15). The shaft carries a fan impeller at the outlet end of the rotor. The rotor consists of sets of four equally spaced arms with each arm carrying a pivoted hammer head at its outer end. A ring segment (16), which extends over an angle with a maximum value of 180 deg., is mounted inside the housing on the side opposite to the inlet. This ring segment extends radially inwards between two adjacent sets of radial arms. USE/ADVANTAGE - Mill for pulverising coal. The ring segment increases the through-put of the mill.
