<p>A system (100) for conveying information to an underwater diver (10) wearing a mask (138). The information is conveyed via a field of view display system (100) which either superimposes (118) the information onto the field of view of the diver (10) or places the information within a glance (120) of the diver (10) so that the diver (10) does not diver his attention away from the view of the surrounding environment through the diving mask (138). Included are sensors (104, 106, 108, 110, 102) for measuring the pressure (106) in the dive tanks (12), for sensing the depth (104) of the diver (10), and for sensing the ambient temperature (110) of the surrounding environment. A microcomputer (112) processes the sensed information and displays it to the diver (10) as well as interpreting the information to provide advice such as safe assent rates which will allow the diver (10) to avoid decompression sickness and the remaining safe dive time.</p> |
