Longitudinal rear transmission for a motor vehicle with four-wheel drive, comprising a housing (1) for the rearward transfer of the movement, connected mechanically to a propulsion unit (2) of transverse axis, a rear differential housing (4) and means of longitudinal connection connecting these two housings, characterised in that the housing (1) for the rearward transfer of the movement is mounted so as to oscillate about a transverse axis (YY) parallel to the axis (XX) of the propulsion unit (2) and is connected to the rear differential housing (4) by means of a rigid tube (6) containing a transmission shaft (5), this assembly thus being one-piece and being articulated on the propulsion unit (2).
