PURPOSE:To produce hydrogen gas which is a highly valuable fuel, at a low cost, using a raw material which heretofore has been difficult to use as a fuel, by dispersing fine particles of zinc sulfide in a mixture of an amino resin and water and irradiating the dispersion with light. CONSTITUTION:Powder or viscous liquid of an amino resin (e.g. urea resin, melamine resin, etc.) is mixed with water. Fine particles of zinc sulfide are dispersed in the mixture and the dispersion is charged into a transparent reaction vessel. The reaction vessel is made of a material inert to amino acid and water and transparent to light, e.g. quartz, etc. The dispersion is irradiated with light preferably after removing dissolved air by passing an inert gas such as Ar through the reaction liquid. The hydrogen gas produced by the light irradiation is collected to the upper part of the reaction vessel and is easily separated. The amino resin used as a raw material is discharged as an industrial waste or domestic waste in large quantity and is difficult to be used as a fuel as it is. The present process enables the production of hydrogen gas as a high- quality fuel from such a waste effectively utilizing solar energy.
|
