The mattress with steel spring inserts has its static magnetic fields and nodes neutralised by continuous passage through a demagnetising machine with a magnetic alternating field directed at mattress height. The bed is passed through a multi-phase magnetic alternating field generator. In an access window the size of the mattress cross-section, between two parallel opposing magnetic pole surfaces, a magnetic alternating field with straight force field lines is produced in the direction of the height of the mattress.
