Computer controlled display of road network map - dividing roads into 3 classifications and combining with weighting valves to suppress some information to achieve improved relevance

Roads are classified as 1st, 2nd and 3rd class and are presented in a grid format on a display. The 3 classifications are represented by three different line thicknesses. Distance evaluations on the map are determined by three concentric zones that may be either square or circular in form. The distance and weighting assigned on the basis of road class allows different grades, of a relevance to be determined and results in the information displayed being reduced. USE/ADVANTAGE - For vehicle navigation. Allows differrence to be made between local and global importance.
