The coupling has a number of contacts (30), each of which is coupled to a respective electrical line and fitted into a respective recess (22) in an insert (20), fitted into a side opening (11) of the insulating coupling housing (10). The contacts are fitted in the respective recesses when the insert is in a first position defined by cooperating elements of the housing and the insert, before further displacement into a locking position for the contacts. The insert has a resilient locking nose transverse to the insertion direction cooperating with a window in the housing having a cooperating profile which is released to allow further displacement of the insert upon operation of a manual push-button.
