Double refined steel or medium steel is rolled to form bars or wire by passing the material between a pair of rollers (3, 4). Each roller has a circumferential groove of the required cross-section to produce the required cross-section of the bar or wire. The rollers are mounted with their axes (33, 34) parallel to each other in a frame formed from two side plates (5, 6). The side plates support housings for the driving bevel gears (19, 20) and driving shafts (16, 17). The axes (14, 15) of the driving shafts lie in a common plane (18) and the frame (6) is supported at an angle of 45 deg. on a pedestal (23) which can be rotated about its vertical axis (31). USE/ADVANTAGE - Rollers for rolling steel wire or bar. The rollers can be easily changed to produce wire or bar of different sizes.
