To coat an optic fibre in a pressure coating vessel, the pressure (p) to deliver a supply of coating varnish is controlled so that the functional connection between the draw speed (v) of the optical fibre and the pressure (p) in the coating vessel (2) is used as a nominal value (s) for the pressure control (4), through a computer unit (3).
