An immunomodulator composition for the prevention and the theraphy of an autoimmune disease contains brasiline of formula (I) as an active ingredient. Brasiline is a natural ingredient which obtained from various plants such as Caesalpina sappan, Caesalpina echinata, Caesalpina coriaria, Caesalpina brasiliensis, Hematoxylon braxilleto, etc. Brasiline is useful as an immunomodulator and a biological response modifier in the treatment of an autoimmune disease esp. diabetes mellitus, rheumatoidal arthritis, psoriasis, etc.
