The present invention contemplates a multimeric polypeptide capable of mimicking the ability of Apo E in regulating lymphocyte proliferation and ovarian androgen synthesis. The polypeptide has an amino acid residue sequence represented by the formula NH2-Leu-Arg-Lys-Leu-Arg-Lys-Arg-Leu- Leu-Arg-Asp-Ala-Asp-Asp-Leu- Leu-Arg-Lys-Leu-Arg-Lys-Arg-Leu- Leu-Arg-Asp-Ala-Asp-Asp-Leu-COOH.
