By means of the use of a plant terminal for transmission alarms, a universal measurements terminal, a central control device, a local control centre, an operating system and a provincial concentrator and a provincial control centre, control of the transmission network is exercised from the control centres on the basis of the extraction of alarms from the transmission equipment on the part of the universal measurements terminals, a representation being given in the control centres and using, to that end, a man/machine interface and special- purpose software, the entire provincial control centre and the local control centre being configured in such a way that all the functions of the system are accessible. <IMAGE>
