A device for protecting power transmission system of machines against overload, especially for mining coal ploughs, composed of a driving sleeve and a hub connected inflexibly with a casing, which, via teeth, cooperate with a sliding disk pressed down to the sleeve and to the hub with a blocking hydraulic unit, characterized in that a bearing (9) is mounted lengthwise on the sliding disk (3), and that bearing is mounted on a piston (8) of a hydraulic actuator (7) supplied with a medium from a bus through a known circuit of electromagnetically controlled valves (16), and the actuator cylinder (10) has an additional overflow valve (15) and is mounted in the base (11) attached to a vertical partition (12), in which a sensor (13) of the position of a sliding disk (3) is mounted, which in turn is coupled with an electromagnetic coil of the overflow valve (15) of the cylinder (10).<IMAGE>
