A device for detecting short circuits and breaks in electrical machines, consisting of a power source switched at fixed intervals and an averaging dual-input amplifier loaded with a meter with zero in the scale middle, characterized in that two circuits are connected in series to the positive terminal of the power source, where the first circuit is composed of a backward diode (D1) and a resistor (R11) and the second circuit is composed of a resistor (R12) and a backward diode (D2), and a reference choke (L) is connected in parallel to one of those circuits, and the other circuit has two terminals for connecting the electrical machine (M) to be tested, and the resistors (R11, R12) are connected with their one ends with the inputs of the averaging dual-input amplifier (W) while they are connected with each other with their other ends, and with the mass of the averaging dual-input amplifier (W), to the input of which a meter (P) with zero in the scale middle is connected.<IMAGE>
