The method consists in attributing (1) error corrector detector codes of Reed Solomon type to each information symbol to be transmitted on the network, in carrying out (2) mixing of the Reed Solomon coded information before transmitting it in packets on the network, and, on reception, carrying out unmixing (9) of the information contained in the packets in order to correct (10) the errors and the erasures in the reproduced symbols by means of the Reed Solomon codes accompanying the reproduced symbols. Application: high-definition and compatible television.
