An angle testing device is disclosed for testing geometrical parameters of the steered chassis of a motor vehicle. On the disks (28) of the steered wheels (1a, 1b) are mounted fastening units (30, 45) provided with at least one measurement pin (31) linked by a ball and socket joint to one end of an intermediate arm (33) capable of pivoting around a vertical axis. The other end of the intermediate arm (33) is linked to one end of a measurement arm (35) that can be guided around a vertical axis, whereas the other end of the measurement arms (35) is linked to a a supporting element (36) fixed in the horizontal direction in relation to the floor. Between the intermediate arm (33) and the measurement arms (35) on the one hand, and between the measurement arm (35) and the supporting element (36) on the other hand, are mounted electric signal generators (41, 42) that generate a signal proportional to the steering angle. In addition, the supporting element (36) is guided on a vertical duct (37) and both elements capable of moving against each other are provided with an electronic signal generator (43) that generates a signal proportional to their movement. The signal generators (41, 42, 43) are connected to the inputs of a computer (18). A testing stand for the chassis of a motor vehicle has at least four independently suspended bolsters (13). In each bolster is driven at least one roller (4b, 5b, 6a, 7a). Each bolster (13) is suspended on four suspension elements (14) and each suspension element (14) is linked to an electronic signal generator that generates a proportional signal to the traction in the suspension element (14) and that is connected to the inputs of a computer (18). Also disclosed is a process that can be applied by means of the disclosed device and that allows the antilocking system (ABS) or the drive slip control (ARS) of a motor vehicle to be tested. |
