A building has a support, which may be a column (10) or member (61) located in the ground and a conical supporting member (12) associated therewith. The supporting member (12) is adapted to receive floor sections (30) which are connected thereto and which are cantilevered outwardly therefrom. The floor sections (30) are preferably segmental and may support a central service module (55), which is the load bearing member for the building roof (56).
