An apparatus for developing strength and skill in striking a ball in sports such as golf, tennis, squash, raquetball, table tennis, baseball, cricket and the like where an increase of strength, hand-eye coordination, muscle memory, and/or concentration is advantageous to the participant. The apparatus provides at least two strings which pass through, or on, a system of anchor members or brackets, such as pulleys, slides, orifices or arcuate shapes. and a means of providing a resisting force, such as a set of weights of spring loaded devices. The distal end from the handle of the club, racket or other ball striking device is attached to the strings and the ball striking device is held and swung by the user. The strings run through the anchor members or brackets in such a manner that the forces applied to the ball striking device have both vertical and horizontal components of force throughout the swing which give beneficial exercise, muscle memory and coordination, and the ability to concentrate and focus when the ball striking device is moved slowly through the swing motion.
