The sliding piston (1) has one or more locking clamps (10) and can be locked into and released from its end position either manually or by hydraulic or pneumatic members. The thrust piston (6) slides in the axial direction of the piston rod (5), to which a fixed locking clamp (10) is mounted. At the end position a locking flange (7) is joined to the cylinder barrel. A release piston (8) is located between the base (2) or top (3) of the cylinder and the flange (7). The flange (7) and release piston (8) have locking surfaces (13, 14) which can be gripped by parts of the locking clamp (10). USE/ADVANTAGE - For use with single or double acting cylinders with locking at one or both ends. A simple and reliable locking method.
