The in-built light has a flat cylindrical housing (15) enclosing a rear reflector (19) and fitting around the back and sides of a miniaturised fluorescent light tube (23). The tube is bent into a ring, or a meandering configuration. Pref. the rear reflector (19) has a concave ring (25) fitting behind the fluorescent light tube (23), so that the light is focussed into a narrow cone. The operating circuit for the lamp is pref. contained within the housing (15), behind or at the side of the fluorescent light tube (23). ADVANTAGE - Compact light for easy incorporation in bookshelf, display case, or kitchen fitting.
