PURPOSE:To provide an optical signal amplifier which allows extension of transmission distance of an optical signal and allows transmission of an optical signal at the time of fault occurrence such as suspension of electric power supply, etc. CONSTITUTION:An optical element 10 is provided with an optical branching part 13, in addition, a first and a second input fiber terminal parts 11a and 11b which extend from the optical branching part 13 and a first and a second output fiber terminal parts 12a and 12b which extend from the other end of the optical branching part 13 are provided. And, a signal amplifying unit 20 is connected to both the second output fiber terminal part 12b and the second input fiber terminal part 11b of the optical element 10. An optical signal from the second output fiber terminal part 12b is amplified, and then it is inputted to the optical branching part 13 by way of the second input fiber terminal part 11b. By this, an optical signal from the first output fiber terminal part 12a of the optical element is raised in output level, permitting a long distance optical communication. An optical communication itself is possible to be carried out, even when the signal amplifying unit is out of order. |
