Aluminium@ alloy lining panels for automobiles - having hollow sections used as reinforced ribs or as flow channels for heat exchange media

Al sheets are compressed by rolling to form lining panels for cars or other vehicles, the novelty being that an inner Al sheet (ii) and an outer Al sheet (10) are compressed together following application of a bonding inhibitor (3,8) between (10) and (11), thereby facilitating deformation of the inner sheet (11) by inflation to form reinforcing ribs (2). More specifically, a bonding inhibitor (3,8) is applied to the inner surface of one or both Al sheets (10 and 11) and these are bonded together by pressing with rollers. A pressurised medium is passed between the sheets (10 and 11), thereby inflating the non-bonded areas and providing ribs (2), which protrude only from the inner panel surface (1). The outer panel surface is flat. USE - As automobile body parts, e.g. bonnet and boot panels, exterior door, floor and side panels, roof panels etc..
