The ultrasound MHz oscillator has a piezoelectric ceramic and a metal amplitude transformer with a concave curved plate. An upward-tapering amplitude transformer (2) is provided and has a surface at its upper end. A hollow reflector (3) holds the liquid being atomised. A flat piezoelectric disc is provided (1). The distance of the focal point (6) from the intersection of the axis of symmetry with the hollow reflector is twice the diameter of the reflector. The amplitude transformer (2) tapers to a neck (8) whose diameter is chosen according to the working frequency of the atomiser, which is given by the wavelength of ultrasound in the amplitude transformer.
