Single layered dimensionally accurate packing container made from foamed plastics sheet, with a protruding solid rim is claimed. Pref. the container is tray-shaped and is made from foamed polystyrene sheet. The solid protruding rim may have an elliptical, circular, rectangular, square or triangular cross-section. Pref. a landing is formed on the inside wall of the tray to support a perforated false floor such that when inserted into the container, a cavity is formed between the false floor and the bottom of the container. The false floor is pref. made of the same material as the container. USE/ADVANTAGE - The trays are esp. designed for the packing of food which may evolve liq. such as pieces of frozen meat displayed for sale in a refrigerated display cabinet. The trays have good mechanical stability and resistance to compression and shock. They can be stacked and unstacked easily and are wholly recycleable.
