Infected medical waste, partic. hospital waste, is sterilised and comminuted by charging it into a hermetically sealable container (1) at the lower end of which is the crushing mechanism (7). The containers can alternately be filled with hot water and evacuated. A further container (10), which can be filled with steam or evacuated, is attached to the crusher to receive waste from it. ADVANTAGE - Ensures sterilisation and disposal without risk.
