<p>A scanner has a frame assembly (15) containing a carriage (20) movably mounted in the frame assembly ( 15) for scanning movement in a scanning path in a first direction (33a) along the length of the frame assembly ( 15) from a home position to an end of scan position, the frame assembly (15) including at least one sheet transport path including at least one index roll (35) on a rotatable shaft (36) to index a sheet through the path, the scanner further including a toggle frame (61) supporting at one end at least one idler roll (46) for forming a sheet transporting nip with at least one index roll (35) and at the opposite end at least one sheet registration gate (60), the toggle frame (61) being pivotally mounted to alternately provide a copy sheet transporting nip and a sheet registration gate (60) in said sheet transport path, the frame (61) being activated to provide a registration gate (60) in the sheet transport path by the scanning carriage (20) when it is adjacent to or at the home position. <IMAGE></p> |
