<p>This invention discloses a new apparatus for the rearing of insects and the production of insect related products, primarily insect viruses and parasites commonly used for the control of insect pests. The apparatus comprises an environmental control system (62), a sealed enclosure (10) consisting of a hood (40) and a base (10), and a system of vertically or horizontally supported food leaves (70, 80, 90, 180, 190, 200). Laminar air flow may be used. The method of use in producing insects, insect viruses, insect pathogens, and other insect products is also disclosed. Use of this apparatus and method affords savings in labor and supplies.</p> |
