A draw-cord assembly (10) comprises a draw-cord (11) e.g. tubular knitted-braided cord which is extensible from a retracted condition to an extended condition and restraining means, e.g. a heat shrinkable filament (12), secured in the cord (11). The cord (11) and restraining means (12) are such that the cord (11) is retained in its retracted condition by the restraining means (12) until the means (12) is rendered ineffective, whereupon the cord (11) may be permanently extended from its retracted condition. The restraining means (12) may retain the cord (11) in its retracted condition provided that the lengthwise load exceeding a certain minimum load is not exceeded, but extended by application of a greater load. |
